Visceral Mobilization
Our abdominal cavity has 5 layers to support the viscera. Each layer should be free to move in different directions.
At the time of pregnancy, the baby grows bigger and pushes the abdominal organs apart.
For the complete 9 months, all the abdominal organs are working in a squeezed space.
Sometimes, these organs are not able to function at their best. Some of the reasons are:
1. Adhesion between two organs
2. Scar in the abdominal cavity after an infection, injury, surgery etc.
3. Abdominal trauma.
After pregnancy, the organs should return to their original positions and be able to slide over each other easily. In many cases, this doesn’t happen and the organs don’t function well. This leads to digestion issues and many other problems.
Visceral mobilization is a technique which releases the organs from each other and puts them in their original position so that they can work well. This is done in a 40 minute session using hands, gently kneading and massaging the patient’s abdomen.
